Throughout history, from the new mother singing a tender lullaby with her child to the soldier singing a rousing song with his troops, music has always been at the heart of every generation. Likewise, touching the lives of both young & old, music will always play an important role in man's worship of God. God created music, and He loves His creation.

 

Here at Northside Baptist Church, the Music Ministry has a three-fold purpose as it works toward giving people a place to believe, belong, and become:

       1) Worship: ministry to God,

       2) Nurture: ministry to God’s people, and

       3) Evangelism: ministry to the lost world.

 

It is our desire to offer every person an exciting variety of musical opportunities that will give glory to our Lord, Jesus Christ; provide encouragement for both musical and spiritual growth; and clearly tell the powerful message that Jesus Christ loves everyone. All of this is accomplished in an environment of praise, joy, and thanksgiving.

 

The 9:15 Celebration Choir leads worship in our weekly 9:15 blended service and joins with the 10:45 Praise Choir, the Celebration Orchestra and the Drama Ministry Team in seasonal presentations and special events. This exciting and growing group of adults shares their love for music as we celebrate our life with Christ through an uplifting time of worship. The choir is open for anyone who loves to sing and rehearses every Wednesday evening at 6:40 in the choir room (Rm. 220, upstairs in the main building).

 

The 10:45 Praise Choir & Praise Band leads worship in our weekly 10:45 contemporary service and joins with the 9:15 Celebration Choir, the Celebration Orchestra and the Drama Ministry Team in seasonal presentations. This dynamic group of singers and instrumentalists shares in their love for music as we celebrate our life with Christ through innovative and refreshing worship. The 10:45 Praise Choir & Praise Band rehearses every Wednesday evening at 6:40 in the sprung building (big tent on campus).

 

The Celebration Orchestra is an up and coming new ministry here at Northside Baptist. This exciting and growing ministry provides worship leadership during our weekly 9:15 blended service as well as other special events throughout the year. Adults and youth with at least two years experience on their instrument are encouraged to participate in this ministry. Contact the music office for more information on how you can get involved.

This ministry was developed to provide individuals and groups the opportunity to lead in worship through song, drama or other areas of performance in our two morning worship services. Those interested in this ministry should contact the music office and set up an appointment to go over the ministry philosophy and guidelines.

 

Children are very important to the ongoing and future ministry of our church; therefore, it is our goal to provide children with the best possible opportunity of learning essential life-skills, Biblical truths, and the joy of worshipping God through music and the arts. The ministry includes choirs for children from preschool through the sixth grade. The Preschool & Children’s Choirs participate in their own yearly productions as well as other church-wide events and productions. These choirs rehearse on Sunday evenings at 5:45 in the upstairs music wing of the main building.

 

Known as “Potter’s Players,” the Drama Ministry team is a group of talented people ranging in ages from youth to adult. Writing and performing a variety of drama sketches, the Drama Ministry Team is an invaluable asset to the ministry of Northside. Not only are you able to you see this creative team in our worship services, but their presence can also be felt during our seasonal productions as well as within a variety of ministry events throughout the church. The Drama Ministry team is not just for the performer however; there are many behind-the-scenes opportunities in this ministry as well. From sewing to set construction, there is certain to be a place for you.
