My calling to ministry started taking place even before I was born. My Father was born premature and they really didn’t expect him to live. My Grandmother, my father’s mother, was very strong in her faith. Obviously, my father lived. My grandmother felt because he spared my father’s life that he would be called to fulltime Christian Ministry.
My father chose to go into the corporate world. So, my grandmother started praying for me. Every time I would visit her, she would say, “There is my minister.” I would assure her, “Granny, I am not going into ministry. You had better start praying for my children.”
I was raised in church and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as my savior at a revival when I was 12 years old. But, I want to fast forward to one of the most defining moments of my life. 18 years ago, Garrett, my son was born. God got a hold of my life that day. I realized that I had been selfish and my priorities were all out of order.
I prayed that night that I would follow God wherever He asked me to go. For over 6 years I felt God calling me into fulltime ministry. I had a great job; by most people’s definitions, I was successful. However, I felt like God wanted me to do something else.
I answered God’s call and was ordained and licensed into the gospel ministry in January 2002. You know the peace that Paul talks about in Philippians. I finally truly experience that peace.
