I came to Christ at a student pizza party. I went there for fun, but the Lord had another purpose—to save me from my sins. My life was transformed and within the first year of my Christian life, I felt God’s call to ministry. It was here at Northside where that calling became a reality. I have been a member at Northside since 1994 and joined the staff in August 0f 2001. Northside is a special church family to me and I thank God for placing me here.
God has allowed me to be a part of so many wonderful ministries at Northside. I have the privilege of directing our education ministries that are designed to do much more than educate. We want people to know Christ and to become more like Him. Our desire is not to just give knowledge but to help use that knowledge to be better servants for Christ. We start at the youngest ages training children to be champions for Christ. We continue this discipleship all the way to our wonderful senior adults who are still learning and growing in Christ. We have a wonderful ladies’ ministry that has many classes designed especially for women.
I also lead our mission and evangelism efforts. I strongly believe that Jesus gave us an important mission before He ascended into Heaven. He said the gospel should be preached to the entire world (Mark 16:15). Our desire is to take the gospel across the street and around the world. We have mission works right here in Lexington and Columbia. But we also have mission work in Appalachia, San Francisco, Chile, Haiti, Turkey, India. In India we have the opportunity to share Jesus with many who have never heard His name.
I also work with our pastoral care ministry that provides the prayer and support to help people in their time of need.
Favorite part of my job: Sharing the gospel anywhere but especially to the unreached in India.
Factoid: You probably wouldn’t guess that I formerly was the director of operations for 18 Burger King restaurants in the Columbia area. That just goes to prove that God can use anybody!
