Director of Preschool Ministry

I became a Christian during a revival service when I was 9 years old. I remember walking down the aisle of the church and taking the pastors’ hand. He met with me later and then I stood before the church to state my beliefs. I was later baptized at FBC, McBee, SC.

I have been married to William Tolar for 21 years this August and we have 3 boys: Carson (17), Jackson (13) and Anderson (9). Yes, all their names end in “son” so that we can joke about our THREE SONS. Of course I just dated myself with naming that television show and I must admit that I enjoy watching the old sitcoms of the past when things were a lot simpler. Entering the teen years our home is filled with hormones and a lot of laughter! I truly believe the Joy of the Lord is my strength!

For obvious reasons my favorite verse to quote is Ephesians 6:1-3 1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Now, my boys know the condensed version: “Obey me so that it may be well with you!”

I have been serving at Northside since May, 2004. My ministry at the time I was called to Northside was in my home and at a preschool where I was able to share the love of Jesus with 23 preschoolers. It was a wonderful time of learning to serve and witness wherever we find ourselves. My children and husband are a big part of this ministry and have embraced ministry as their lifestyle as well. I am very fortunate and blessed to have the support of my family.

My passions are sharing the love of Jesus with preschoolers at their level of understanding, never talking down to them but never overwhelming them either, partnering with parents for the spiritual development of their preschoolers, and partnering with teachers in the task of that development.
