Worship & Arts

The Worship and Arts Ministry is one of the most exciting ministries in our church and it exists to exalt God, edify the believers, and evangelize the lost.
In Psalm 34:3 David says “Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name forever.” To exalt someone or something means to lift high or elevate that someone or something above all else. Exalting God requires that we humble ourselves and confess our complete dependence on him.

Ephesians 4 speaks of how God has called us and given us various gifts and abilities “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

We see in 1 Corinthians 14 that when the body of believers meet together and prophesy - that is, to speak (or sing!)the truth of God in worship - the unbeliever “will be convinced by all that he is a sinner . . . and will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, ‘God is really among you!’” This is evangelism!
I love how John Piper adapted Jonathan Edwards’ perspective on worship. He said,

“The fuel of worship is the grand truth of a gracious and sovereign God; the fire that makes the fuel burn white hot is the quickening of the Holy Spirit; the furnace made alive and warm by the flame of truth is our renewed spirit; and the resulting heat of our affections is worship, pushing its way out in tears, confessions, prayers, praises, acclamations, lifting of hands, bowing low, and obedient lives.”

My prayer is that this church would see a revival of true worship! John 4:23 says that “the true worshippers will worship him in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks.”

9:15 CELEBRATION CHOIR
The 9:15 Celebration Choir leads worship in our weekly 9:15 blended service and joins with the 10:45 Praise Choir, the Celebration Orchestra and the Drama Ministry Team in seasonal presentations and special events. This exciting and growing group of adults shares their love for music as we celebrate our life with Christ through an uplifting time of worship. The choir is open for anyone who loves to sing and rehearses every Wednesday evening at 6:00 in the choir room (Rm. 220, upstairs in the main building).

10:45 PRAISE BAND
The 10:45 Praise Band leads worship in our weekly 10:45 contemporary service and joins with the 9:15 Celebration Choir, the Celebration Orchestra and the Drama Ministry Team in seasonal presentations. This dynamic group of singers and instrumentalists shares in their love for music as we celebrate our life with Christ through innovative and refreshing worship. The 10:45 Praise Choir & Praise Band rehearses every Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the sprung building (big tent on campus).

CELEBRATION ORCHESTRA
The Celebration Orchestra is an up and coming new ministry here at Northside Baptist. This exciting and growing ministry provides worship leadership during our weekly 9:15 blended service as well as other special events throughout the year. Adults and youth with at least two years experience on their instrument are encouraged to participate in this ministry. Contact the music office for more information on how you can get involved.

"SPECIAL MUSIC" MINISTRY
This ministry was developed to provide individuals and groups the opportunity to lead in worship through song, drama or other areas of performance in our two morning worship services. Those interested in this ministry should contact the music office and set up an appointment to go over the ministry philosophy and guidelines.

PRESCHOOL & CHILDREN'S CHOIRS
Children are very important to the ongoing and future ministry of our church; therefore, it is our goal to provide children with the best possible opportunity of learning essential life-skills, Biblical truths, and the joy of worshipping God through music and the arts. The ministry includes choirs for children from preschool through the fifth grade. The Preschool & Children’s Choirs participate in their own yearly productions as well as other church-wide events and productions. These choirs rehearse on Sunday evenings at 5 p.m. in the upstairs music wing of the main building.

Drama Ministry Team
Known as “Potter’s Players,” the Drama Ministry team is a group of talented people ranging in ages from youth to adult. Writing and performing a variety of drama sketches, the Drama Ministry Team is an invaluable asset to the ministry of Northside. Not only are you able to you see this creative team in our worship services, but their presence can also be felt during our seasonal productions as well as within a variety of ministry events throughout the church. The Drama Ministry team is not just for the performer however; there are many behind-the-scenes opportunities in this ministry as well. From sewing to set construction, there is certain to be a place for you.

Audio, Video & Lighting Ministry Team
In keeping up with the technology of the times, Northside Family of Faith is blessed with a powerful AVL ministry. The purpose of this ministry is to enhance the worship experience with exceptional audio quality, lighting effects, and powerful visual presentations. With weekly worship services and a number of events taking place at Northside, the AVL ministry is able to offer many servanthood opportunities for those who feel called to audio and video production.
